Lambing Is Done... No, It Really Is This Time!

LATE MAY

I got a surprise when I went out to check on the sheep in the morning and found this tiny lamb - I thought we were all done! But mum was attentive and all seemed well, so I left them out with the flock rather than bringing them inside.

The rest of the sheep were curious too.

So that was the last lamb, or so I thought...

LATE JUNE

I got arguably an even bigger surprise when I checked on the sheep, clipped and all, in late June to find another newborn lamb. It was another single tip.

I was happy leaving him outside, even if it meant he got a lot of attention.

Clover was over.

The recently weaned sets of twins from the pet flock were curious as well.

So there we have it - the last lamb of 2026!

And Irving.

Flying Sunday Visit

I received the usual greeting when I visited the pets one Sunday evening - either Billy or Wee Matt leading the charge. This time it was Billy.

Imelda.

Ivy.

 Billy.

Ivy and Iris being very cute sisters.

Lambs Out

The seemingly endless rain that dogged us throughout January and February wasn't so endless after all - we were forecast one and a half days precipitation-free, so the lambs, two weeks old by now, were chucked out into the field.

Irving, Astrid's tip lamb.

Ivy, one of Primrose's girls. Even with her slightly deformed lower jaw, she's a cutie.

Astrid.

Ivy is very photogenic.

Lambs are always fascinated by this metal cover.

Iris and Ivy, the twins.

While I was concentrating on the wee lambs, I couldn't resist taking this photo when I looked behind me. Yes, Billy is getting big, but he's still pretty tiny next to Titch and even Rosie!

Ivy again - she's just so pretty.

That's not mummy.

Fern.

Irving.

Two black lambs - they're not the easiest to tell apart. The one looking at me, I'm pretty sure, is Iris.

Great to see them out. It's a big achievement.
