Billy and I were out and about again. This was our first time having a walk somewhere where I didn't walk with Nobby (not counting our tiny practise run). We went to Murlough Beach, somewhere I've been many times over the years. There's a decent walk through dunes before you reach the beach itself.

I love the pebbles with BEACH on them.

Dogs are supposed to be on leads, but livestock roam freely... quite the dilemma for us!

Just kidding - on these trips I treat Billy as if he is a dog, albeit a dog that has to stop to nibble a hedge every few minutes.

The boardwalk though the dunes is lovely even on a cloudy day like this one.

Billy on the boardwalk.

ItWe hadn't gone far before snacks were required.

Our adventure on this day was a spontaneous one - rain was forecast for the day, but by 1:30 none had shown itself. It wasn't until we were almost at the beach that the rain came on. It was only a shower, and it wasn't heavy, but it was enough to wet us, and cause Billy to go on strike. He didn't want to walk in the rain. He just stood there. Sheep really don't like water.

Shaking it off.

I was forgiven as we reached the beach.

It still looked like rain wasn't far off.

The pebbles felt strange to walk on.

And the beach itself was strange to Billy.

He'd never been so close to waves.

It looked like the depths of winter, rather than spring!

Watching the waves.

A massive chunk of driftwood.

The beach is covered in pebbles, but slightly inland, in the dunes, there are sandy patches. Billy was curious.

Heading back the way we came.

Billy and I took turns being the one in the lead.

Back at the start.

This photo in particular made me realise just how grown-up he's starting to look.
