Last week, my dear friend Joanne came to visit from Canada. This was her second visit to Northern Ireland, and I did my best to give her some unique experiences while she was here. One of these was taking Billy for a walk! The Murlough Nature Reserve walk has become a new favourite after Billy and I visited earlier this year, and with the autumn sun blazing, it was a great day for us to return!
Before we left home, we gave Billy's slightly dirty bottom a wash and blow-dry, before loading him into the tiny livestock trailer. (We then got several compliments from people about how clean our sheep was!)
At the nature reserve, I was the official photographer for the walk, and Jo took Billy. Here they are on the boardwalk.
Frequent snack breaks are of course required.
The boardwalk took us through a path in the dunes, between some trees, and lead us straight to a very picturesque beach.
Arriving at the beach.
I took Billy for a minute so Jo could get some photos of her own.
Unlike last time we were here, the tide was in, so I walked in the water.
Sheep are not natural fans of water, so he was happy to stay dry with Jo.
The sky looked stunning - the weather really was on its best behaviour!
Jo took the camera so she could take some photos too.
Back with Jo.
We stopped here for a break. It was time to turn back, but we could admire the view first.
On the move again.
Back on the boardwalk.
We had such a lovely time at the beach, and once we got into town, we had a wonderful meal, with Billy lying down to chew the cud on the pavement beside us. Every day spent with Jo was great, but I think this might have been my favourite - or maybe I'm biased!
