Wee Matt was in the shed with a group of other lambs, destined for market one day, but his sweet personality charmed myself and my dad. When Dad named him Wee Matt, I knew we were in trouble! Knowing that Jo was coming in a week or two, I put off my big plan for him until she arrived - after all, what better holiday experience could there be than witnessing a lamb castration!? Jo and I caught Wee Matt (very easy, he was always coming over to the door for treats) and got him loaded into the trailer for a Monday afternoon castration at the vet's. He behaved himself very well, only getting upset when we didn't stand with our hand within sniffing distance. Jo took this photo just after the procedure.
A couple of days later, I was attempting to get a photo of myself and Jo. Billy and Wee Matt were included. It was hard to juggle two lambs and a camera remote at the same time!
We tried. The chaos is part of the fun!
Of course, the one photo where the boys are posing perfectly is the one where our heads are cut off. Ah well!
Just over a week after his operation, I went out to the field to take some proper pictures of Wee Matt. Lois greeted me first.
And Hilde.
Heidi didn't want to be left out either.
But here he is! He's healing perfectly well, he's still super friendly with people and very keen on sharing Billy's treats.
Welcome to the pet flock, Wee Matt!
