Jim Goes to a Walled Garden

Back in March, the Annesley Walled Garden and Arboretum in Castlewellan Forest Park was reopened to the public after a huge effort to restore it. I love flowers and was eager to visit to see for myself. I had to wait until April, when Jim was ready, before visiting. First we had to walk from the car park.

It was Jim's first big walk out and he did very well.

Before long we were at our destination. Each tree has a small plaque underneath it so you can see what species it is.

Jim thought it was a tasty restoration. I was watching him closely, but he did nibble the odd leaf here and there, I have to admit.

The colours were just lovely.

Bluebells were starting to appear too, although it would be a few weeks yet before they were at their most plentiful.

Dramatically posing Jim.

The wall.

The greenhouses looked great, even if it was a dull day.

My favourite part of the garden (at least that I've discovered so far) is this area. I was really hoping there would be tulips and I was not disappointed.

More of those tiny daffodils.

Obligatory Castle photo.

And the obligatory "sheep grazing in front of the Castle" photo.

Jim did so well for his first time out. And I was so grateful that somewhere like that walled garden is dog (and therefore sheep) friendly. I will be back!
