A Flock and a Fox

I took Blue Belle out for a walk to visit the flock in the Potato Field.

She'd been living frugally as is summer tradition, so as soon as she reached that fresh grass, she was munching away.

She was still munching and making slow progress when a curious ewe came over to say hello.

We eventually managed to make it to the next field.

Grazing, of course, continued.

The sheep in this field weren't quite as curious about Blue Belle - in fact, they got out of there pretty quick. Even Petal, who's the closest in this photo.

Audrey's daughter escaping fast.

Blue Belle didn't care. The grass was too good.

Having got the money shot of Blue Belle, I turned my attention to our surroundings. We were at the top of a hill and it was a glorious evening.

But when I turned my camera towards the bottom of the hill, I spotted movement - it was a fox!

He ran a bit and then stopped to pose for me. He was so far away, though, that I've had to crop this photo drastically so you can get a good look at him.

After maybe twenty seconds of staring at us, he bounded off and disappeared into the hedge. The cows next door were unaffected.

In another field, the sun coming through the leaves was beautiful.

More golden evening light.

And more grass.

Back in the Potato Field, we headed up the hill towards the gate.

Blue Belle's friend from earlier watched us.

And the ewe with the late lamb.

Hazel spotted us and trotted over.

And she was curious about Blue Belle too.

Blue Belle certainly enjoyed herself.
