Decorating the house

Pip had a tinsel photoshoot yesterday.

Help me. Please.
Pip

Tinsel (whatever it is) itches.
Pip

It’s not like I could bring the snow inside the house. I had to use tinsel. Besides, I was using it to decorate the house for Christmas. Pip was happy to help.

The snow’s inside the house! Panic!
Pip

Must be cold in our house -  a penguin’s moved in!

Pip helped with the tree too.
Pip

And here is the tree all lit up… well, like a Christmas tree.
Bad photo of tree

Although the photo’s blurry, I think it looks quite good. A bit like fire. Yeah.

I think it’s silly. There are no presents under it.
Pip

You know Pip, Christmas isn’t all about presents.

I know. It’s about food too.
Pip

Not just that. It’s about spending time with the family.

And eating food.
Pip

Oh, Pip.

I will sit with tinsel for food.
Pip

I will pose with tinsel for food.
Pip

And I will sit on this chair for food.
Pip

Good for you.

I can see food.
Sheila

What?
Ewe

The poor lambs are braving the cold. They seem to be in good shape, though.

And they seem to come over looking for food a lot.

Have you got any food?

Even Sugar is looking well. But is that flab or is she pregnant?
Sugar

I wonder…

Merry Christmas

When it’s cold outside

Pip goes posing.

And posing.

As you can probably tell, we had a lot of snow overnight. The drifts were a foot deep in places (which is quite a lot for us). After dinner, I went to the fields to check up on the lamb. Their field has a lot of gorse bushes at one end, next to a large wall. At the lower end (it’s a steep hill), there’s a wall and then a road, but no gorse, so they wold be easy to spot. No such luck. I walked along the gorse at the top of the field, following the footprints in the snow. There was no sign of them. As I was headed back to the gate however, I spotted this:

It was mother ewe, and where she was, her lamb was sure to follow.

Thank goodness they were OK. They must have been in the gorse for most of the night, but at least they were safe. You could even say that they were lucky.

So, Lucky it is then.

This is the view from the top of their field.

The Mournes was one of the worst areas hit by the snow. Just look at Newcastle’s harbour.

Ben was thrilled to have the snow back.

You can tell by his face, no?

Thankfully, some of the ewes are inside out of the snow (sorry for the terrible photo – not much light in there).

And did I mention, this has been the worst snow for over 25 years?
DSCN6540

Yeah, Pip’s glad of her home comforts now.

And for those of you who are interested, this is how I got the snow effect on my photos: A Simple Snow Effect Widget for Blogger Blogs.

Good day to you, I’m gonna go play in the snow.

Friends & Friendly Friday

Here’s a photo of me and Pip from last Sunday.
Me and Pip

We’re in the Land Rover, and I’m wearing my work clothes. It’s cold, you know.

But Pip’s got enough fur to keep her warm.
Pip

It’s been snowing heavily here all night, and it’s currently snowing outside now too. It is even worse than the last snow we had.

I hope the lamb’s OK. If she is, I think I’ll call her “Lucky”.

I’m going to share a website with you now. It’s one of my favourites.

Luna Tale Working Border Collies is the website of a Border Collie kennel in Belgium.

Tri-colour is my favourite colour, might I add.

They have some beautiful dogs. And have bred some fantastic ones, too.

This is Luna. She’s their foundation dog.

The Luna Tale dogs can do herding, agility, flyball and more.

Why don’t you give them a visit here?

Young Things

Do you remember Ben’s Birthday Bash? Well, I took a video of Ben and Jack playing in typical Sprollie fashion.

Meanwhile, the snow’s gone! Nooooooooo! Pip didn’t seem to mind, though…

It’s warmer now. I like that.
Pip (11)

I don’t get a cold bum waiting for you to take a picture of me.
Pip (13)

Did you notice that Pip’s on a bale? Sure makes her look bigger.
Pip (15)

She had a mini-photoshoot up there on Saturday.
Pip (14)

It’s very windy up here.
Pip (5)

Poor Pip, it’s good that she has some self-control.

Yeah. She has control alright.

Pip also likes attacking snakes.

What? Snakes are evil!
Pip (1)

Oh – and I forgot to mention, we had a lamb on Sunday! It’s a ewe (as far as I can remember – I haven’t actually seen it yet), and I’ll be showing her to you soon!

Last year’s first lambs were born on November 28th, and were twins (which I named Titch and Tilly).

Here’s the happy family (mum’s called Charlotte, after a friend of mine).

They were both strong lambs, but we put them into the the livestock trailer and brought them home.

Charlotte was not impressed.

The family spent some time in a pen before heading outside to the field.

Their new field had some cows next door.

They were scary.

Titch was sold, but Tilly still hangs around.
Tilly

So, happy belated birthday, Titch and Tilly!

And this is my 200th post!

Pip’s Home Comforts

Pip has discovered a new love – my bed. She loves my bed.

I love your bed, mum.
Pip

It’s so soft and squidgy under my paws!
Pip

And Pip also loves the chair. Well, it is the same colour as her.
Pip

Pip loves her home comforts, but she likes snow, too.
Pip

It’s cold on my tail.
Pip

Pip also loves tree stumps.

Mmmm… Stumpy…
Pip

Pip now even has her tea inside. The water is not a household accident. It’s her food, and she wants some more.
