For Billy's first proper adventure, we followed in Nobby's hoof prints from nine years ago and went to Castlewellan Forest Park. We walked from the car park and down to the lake. There's a great path that leads all the way around the lake, but I worried that Billy would get too tired doing that. We ended up doing a sort of horseshoe-shaped walk around the top of the lake. Billy was taking everything in.

Billy met a cyclist, a child, a pram and a few dogs, along with plenty of other people. He was as good as gold.

The only issue Billy had with my chosen path was that the grass wasn't very tasty. It wasn't until we were on the castle side of the horseshoe that he found a patch he liked.

It was hard to get him to move on after that.

This patch of grass is Billy Approved™.

Billy was getting tired (he only has little legs) but I couldn't resist exploring these bluebells.

I carried Billy up a set of stone stairs to get this photo. Worth it. Just gorgeous.

Back past those bluebells.

Car park-bound now.

Careful, Billy!

Billy was a superstar on this day - I was more worried about meeting people than he was! But we had a lovely, lovely time.
